Day to Day Things to Know

Please please pretty please label all items that belong to your child. Lots of jumpers, cardigans, shoes, wellies, parts of PE kits and even, on occasion, coats go on a walkabout in FS2! If you use pen please check and re-write after washing if needed.

Spare Clothes: We like to get messy (please see the document attached below for why!) and spend a lot of time in our outdoor classroom so we ask that you send in a spare clothes bag with underwear, socks and if you can a set of uniform. The children are allowed to choose painting and messy play all day so often will come home with splashes or changes of uniform.

PE Kit: We begin PE lessons after the first few weeks of school. PE Day is every Tuesday all children should come to school in their kit.

Water: Please provide a labelled water bottle for your child. This will be taken in and out of school each day.

Lunch: Your child is entitled to a free school dinner (hot or cold deli choices) and we use this to promote healthy eating and trying new things. The menus are provided to all parents.

Reading: The children will start their reading journey in FS2 with either picture books or books with the initial simple sounds we will learn in the first few weeks. Picture books are as impotant at those with words as they help the children to understand stories and build vocabulary when talking about them with their adult.

Homework: Is reading :) We would expect the children to read each night at home. This can be one or two pages with lots of talk about the pictures or the whole book. We will also send additional home learning through the year and at holidays to support phonics and maths development.
