Hello and welcome Year 2! smiley

This term we will be learning lots of exciting things in school, don't worry if like last year you have to stay away from school for a while to isolate so that everyone is kept safe. 
Mrs Hughes, Mrs Skelton and Miss Lloyd will be updating the website with lots of information and activities so that you can follow what we are doing in class.

Welcome to our Year 2 page where you will find regular updates and information about your child’s learning.

Homework is set every week. Your child will receive one piece of either Maths or English every Friday which is to be returned by the following Wednesday. 

In addition, spellings are sent home weekly and will be tested every Friday.

We encourage weekly access to Mathletics and Spelling Shed.

Autumn Term

This term we will be learning about place value. We will be starting off the year recapping our learning from year one by looking at numbers 1-20 then we will move on to look at numbers to 100. We will represent our numbers in different ways using concrete aparatus, pictorial forms and abstract digits.

This term, we will be looking at Traditional tales. We will be learning about different versions of traditional tales. We will be focusing on creating sentences using full stops and capital letters and we will think about adding detail and descriptions using commas.

One story we will be looking at in detail will be Little Red Ridinghood.

Our theme is the Great Fire of London. We will be learning how the Great Fire of London started, we are also going to investigate why it spread so fast and caused so much destruction.

'The Chosen People' is our RE focus for this halfterm. We will be learning about: Abraham, Moses' early life and David.
