Mr James and Mrs Dobson would like to welcome you to the Year 4 web page. Here, you will find information about the up coming year. We are always to here to help and please do not hesitate to contact if you have any concerns.
P.E. days
4MJ Tuesday and Wednesday
4AD Tuesday and Wednesday
Swimming will take place every afternoon from Monday to Friday, with the two classes attending on the following dates:
Class 4MJ:
Monday 7th September – Friday 11th September
Class 4AD:
Monday 14th September – Friday 18th September
Please ensure children are in PE kits on the correct days.
History topic this year - Anglo Saxons and Vikings then the Ancient Maya.
Geography this year- Sustainability and Natural Disasters
Science this year - Living Things and Habitats (Classification), Animals including Humans (digestion), Electricity, Sound, States of Matter and the Water Cycle.
Homework - One piece of alternating English or maths along with 10 spellings will be set on a Friday and needs to be uploaded on SeeSaw by the following Thursday- Spelling tests will also take place on Thursdays.
Children are expected to read at least 3 times a week at home, we know life is busy but we believe that regularly reading is fundamental at this age to children's development.
In year 4, we also have a very strong emphasis on times-tables knowledge as there is a formal, national assessment which each child takes in the Summer term so we will be doing lots to improve skills in this area. Please see the Powerpoint presentation on the MTC below.
