In English this term Year 4 will be reading 'The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse' to start the year. We will be linking this to PSHE and thinking about our school rules. We will then be reading 'The Sword of the Viking King' to link to our theme for this term. This will focus on character descriptions using adjectives, nouns, verbs and adjeverbs, and also reporting speech using inverted commas.
Year 4 will be focusing Place Value, addition and subtraction and multiplication and divsion. Timestables will continue to be an ongoing focus. We encourage the use of Times Tables Rockstars at home daily. In school we will consistently be practicing our times tables each week.
In year 4, we are focusing on the Bible and looking at 4 key stories in the Old Testament. We will be reading these stories and thinking about the people's relationships with God, how they show their faith to God and what this means for us as Christians today.
This term Year 4 are starting work on Living things and their habitats. We are looking at classifying a range of living things and will be going on an invertebrate hunt in our school grounds. After half term, we will focus on humans and the digestive system.
Our theme for this term is Anglo-Saxons and Vikings. We will be working our way through the timeline of this part of history and exploring enquiry questions to develop our knowledge. In Art and DT we will be creating Viking portraits and making Viking shields.
