At Christ the King we follow the Charanga Scheme for music lessons within class. Through this, children are taught elements of music, composition, improvisation, playing together and singing together. Hymn practice is also used to teach these elements and introduce composer of the week.

Singing at CtK

Singing is a great strength of CtK, with an award-winning choir, regular hymn practices and opportunities for performance, singing forms an important part of the culture at CtK. Through good vocal production, careful listening and well-developed sense of pitch, pupils should be able to sing in harmony and with musical delivery by the end of Year 6.

Instrument  Lessons

We are fortunate to have Miss and Mrs Mackenzie teach brass lessons and run our brass band, which is held on Wednesdays. Guitar, piano, ukulele and recorder lessons are also available and the talents of our children is celebrated at an annual showcase.

We are also very pround that our choir have won the Wirral Music Festival for five years and our recorders just won their category this year too!

Please see the files below for details of the music curriculum.
