In Year 3 we are all working hard to follow Jesus' example and be the best that we can be. We try very hard to live up to our school motto of treating others the way we would like to be treated ourselves.

Welcome to our Year 3 page where you will find regular updates and information about your child’s learning.

We encourage weekly access to Mathletics, TTRockstars and Spelling Shed.

Home Schooling Update

We hope you are all keeping safe whilst you are at home with your families and that you have been enjoying the sunshine in your gardens. The staff have missed teaching you this week but we hope that you have been enjoying sharing your work and showing your parents all of the fabulous things you have been learning so far this year.

Although we were unable to be in school to celebrate together, we were delighted to see that you went to such a fabulous effort to put on your Egyptian day outfits. You all looked fantastic and it put a big smile on our faces!

Holy Week and Easter 2020

We are fast approaching the most important time in the Church's year. Perhaps you could spend time thinking about this and finding out about what happens at Church during this special time?  We wonder how you are all going with your lenten promises!

Ancient Egypt

This term we have been learning about all things Egypt and I think we have two classes full of experts! We have written our own Egyptian fairy tales, read lots of Egyptian stories, discovered lots of facts, made our own Egyptian papyrus, necklaces and much more.

Since going on our trip, we have been reading about the very important Egyptian Pharaoh Tutankhamun and have even been learning about the key features of a news report in order to create our own article about Howard Carter's discovery of this famous pharaoh’s tomb! We hope that you are enjoying learning even more about Egypt and the river Nile whilst working through your home learning tasks.

Don't forget to keep looking on online and on Twitter for updates such as words of the week and other fun activities you can take part in. Ask your parents to like the tweets and even make a comment.

Spelling Shed

Remember to keep practising your spellings on Spelling Shed so that we can get Year 3 to the top of the leaderboard as well as helping you to improve your spelling.

Vocabulary Ninja

Why not have a look at the daily vocabulary ninja words too and see if you can draw a picture of the word to show what it means. You can then have a go at writing your own creative sentences with these words in. You could even share them on Twitter so that everyone can see how great you are!

Times Tables

Everyone knows that knowing your times tables really helps with many aspects of maths, so this half term we have been having a real push on memorising and recalling these important facts. We have also used them to help us with more formal methods of multiplication and division too. We are using TTRockstars and trying to improve our rockstar status. Keep practising these at home so you can really build confidence! Perhaps someone in your house hold will play a game of 'beat the teacher' with you?

Texture in Art

In art we have spent alot of time looking at textures. If the weather is nice, perhaps you could go outside and look at different textures in your garden or even choose your favourite toy to sketch indoors. Remember to build texture through shading using skills such as stippling hatching and cross hatching.

3EJ have outdoor PE on a Wednesday and indoor PE on a Thursday.

3HB have indoor PE on a Tuesday and outdoor PE on a Wednesday.

Please ensure the correct PE kit is in school and labelled with your child's name.

Homework is set every week. Your child will receive one piece of either Maths or English every Friday which is to be returned by the following Wednesday.

In addition, spellings are sent home weekly and will be tested every Friday.
