"Treat others the way you would like to be treated yourself."

Our trip to Church Farm.

We  had the most amazing day visiting Church Farm; the children were exceptionally well behaved.
Once we had settled at the Farm, Abby who is one of the farm workers, took us on a tractor ride to meet the farm animals.
Annie & Ellie are Shetland Ponies, they are tiny and strong. They don’t need coats they are naturally warm enough with hair for the winter. They have Big lips and teeth, they are very friendly. We met the Donkeys, Blossom the mum and Winston the son.

The Greediest animal on the farm are the sheep. The name for baby sheep is a Lamb, there are 7 of them. Female are Ewes, 5 Mummy sheep. Male sheep, a Ram lives in a different farm. They are sheared because they get too hot, it’s not very expensive. They have 4 tummies to feed, that’s why they are so greedy.

The Geese are Hugely territorial with Serrated beaks, teeth on them, they hurt very much. They are excellent guard animals, the noises they make keep people away. They are very soft, their feathers are fluffy.

There is a surprise animal!!!  Could it be a lama, horse, donkey, a cow, a dog, a lamb, sheep, a billy goat, a pig, a meerkat. The children had great ideas guessing while we went on the tractor ride.
are they Camels or lamas......? No, they are Alpaca. To tell the difference they have flat backs not humps like camels. They have lovely straight ears, lamas have curved ears, banana lama. They like to live in a herd, with their friends. They sheared also for their wool, which very expensive, £50. They are called; Disco, speedy & JoJo.

They had Free range chickens; they roam around freely. They go to bed at 7pm daily, to keep safe from Mr Fox. “Happy Hens lay happy eggs.: Abby told us. The children looked for eggs, Abby said to be very careful, to pick them up, place them in the egg tray, to look in the empty hen boxes. Twenty-nine eggs were collected; the colour of the hen lays the same colour egg.

We saw a Pig and 8 piglets that were born on 26th May. They are the only pig in world with curly hair, Woolly mammoth pigs. They are too fatty for meat. They will use 5 of the Piglets for racing in the summer.

We held the Guinea pigs, they were named Sleepy, Snowball, Squeak & Bubble.

After our lunch we had a dig in the enormous Sandpit, played on the tractors, went down the slide, swung on the swings and raced through the maze, which we all completed.  We had such a fantastic day from start to finish.
